Mr Robert D. Arnott,

Rob Arnott is one of the world’s most respected authorities in TAA. He has authored over sixty articles for journals such as the Financial Analysts Journal, the Journal of Portfolio Management (JPM) and the Harvard Business Review. He has received five Graham and Dodd Scrolls or Awards, awarded annually by the CFA Institute (formerly AIMR), and two Bernstein-Fabozzi/Jacobs-Levy awards, awarded by JPM and Institutional Investor, for the best articles of the year. In 2002, he established Research Affiliates to offer subadvisory services, software and asset management products. He has also joined forces with PIMCO to offer the first global asset allocation product to make active use of alternative markets, beyond conventional stocks, bonds and cash.

Tim Bond,

Tim Bond is Editor of the Barclays Equity-Gilt Study and he specialises in a global macroeconomic approach to asset allocation. Tim joined Barclays Capital from the hedge fund, Moore Capital, where he worked as a portfolio strategist. Prior to Moore, he worked for ten years at Tokai Bank London, a bond trading boutique that averaged the highest returns on capital of any UK institution in the early to mid-1990’s.

Gavyn Davies,

Gavyn Davies was Goldman Sachs Chief Economist and Chairman of the Global Investment Research Department from 1988-2001, during which time he was repeatedly ranked as the number one economist in surveys of institutional investors. He has been a member of the UK Treasury’s Independent Forecasting Panel (1992-1997), and an Economic Adviser to the House of Commons Select Committee on the Treasury. He was appointed Chairman of the BBC in October 2001 and resigned his position in January 2004.

Mr Igor Drozdov,

Igor Drozdov manages GTAA portfolio at Cornicen in London. In 2002-2003 he was successfully running Global Tactical Asset Allocation portfolio overlay at Mn Services, one of the largest Dutch pension fund managers. Before that he was doing proprietary trading and market-making in Emerging Markets short-term interest rates products at JP Morgan, London. He began his career in 1994 as Latin American sovereign debt trader at ABN AMRO Bank in Amsterdam and later became Head of fixed income trading and sales at the bank’s Russian subsidiary. Igor Drozdov has graduated from Delta University in The Netherlands in 1993 and studied at Moscow State University in 1984-1990.


Andrew Dyson,

Andrew Dyson joined MLIM in April 2001 and has been Head of Institutional Business for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) since December 2003. Prior to joining MLIM, Andrew worked for the investment consulting arm of William M Mercer, rising to Head of UK Pension Funds before being promoted to Head of US Multinational Investment Consulting in New York in 1999. Andrew is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

David Escoffier,

Alain Kerneis,

Alain joined Goldman Sachs' Portfolio Strategy group in 2000. He is in charge of a new tactical asset allocation advisory service that provides investors with new modelling approaches and derivative implementations. Until 1998, he was a quantitative analyst in the derivatives team of Citibank Global Asset Management.

Bruce Lavine,

Bruce Lavine is the Head of the European iShares business where he is responsible for directing BGI’s exchange traded fund business across Europe. Prior to this, Bruce spent four years as CFO and Director of New Product Development for the U.S. Intermediary Business that includes iShares and other mutual funds. Bruce led Barclays’ efforts in launching over 50 iShares during that period covering various equity and fixed income indexes.

Lionel Martellini, PhD, is professor of finance at the Edhec Graduate School of Business. Lionel is also Scientific Director and in charge of the “Tactical Allocation”, “Indexes and Benchmarking” and “Asset Allocation and Derivatives” research programmes at the Edhec Risk and Asset Management Research Centre. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Portfolio Management and the Journal of Alternative Investments. His expertise is in derivatives valuation and optimal portfolio strategies, and his research has been published in leading academic and practitioner journals. He has also co-authored several books in the area of fixed-income securities and alternative investment strategies.

David Mullins,

Dr David Mullins is a former Vice Chairman of the US Federal Reserve. He was also a founding principal of LTCM, where he was involved in a wide range of relative value and global macro strategies. From 1974 through 1990, Dr. Mullins was a Professor at Harvard University, teaching corporate finance and capital markets. Vega Asset Management is one of the world's largest hedge fund managers, operating principally in the macro and fixed income markets, while Vega Institutional Advisors manages institutional quality liquidity enhancement products with low target volatility and conservative portfolio management.

Jim O’Neill is widely acknowledged as the top foreign-exchange economist, anywhere in the world, over the last decade, and he has frequently been voted top analyst by surveys such as Extel and Institutional Investor. In his current role as Head of Global Economic Research, Jim oversees all of Goldman’s economic research output. He is the creator of the acronym BRICs, which reflects the emergences of Brazil, Russia, India and China as the growth opportunities of the future. In November 2004, Jim joined the board of Manchester United as a non-executive director.
